We had a variety of different events starting in March with ‘A Journey Through Time’. A classical music evening held and organised by the Marriott Hotel in Denia  - a highly successful evening.

Fun filled and entertaining Quiz evenings in April and September in Moraira and Benidoleig organised by Malcolm and Jean Bunn.

An unusual and different kind of sponsored walk in May, organised by Andy Crabbe – 20 km in total starting from Jesus Pobre via Denia and ending in Els Poblets.  The turnout was not enormous but we raised a goodly sum.

The HELP of Denia Annual Charity Golf Competition was held at Oliva Nova Golf Course  in June.  We had a full house with over 100 golfers and approximately 120 for lunch.  We managed to attract Sponsors for all of the 18th holes and also in the vicinity of the Club House.  We did, in addition, run a successful raffle. Amongst the prizes donated were a round of golf for two people at La Sella followed by a meal in the Marriott Hotel and complementary golf for four at Oliva Nova.

In August, HELP of Denia and Marina Alta celebrated their 30th anniversary with a Grand Summer Ball at the Parador Hotel, Javea. Guests were greeted with Spanish classical guitar musical in the grounds of the hotel, whilst being served with champagne and tapas.  During the dinner there was a flamenco show and Rob Sweeney provided the music to dance the night away.

Our activities start on Friday 8th May when we are holding a Fashion Show at La Jara HELP Centre which is being organised by Amanda Rosser.  Doors will open at 12.00 noon and you will be greeted with cava and tapas. Clothes and accessories from our shops will be modelled and the entrance fee of 5€ includes not only cava and tapas but a raffle too.

On   16th- May at Los Leones Restaurant in Moraira a quiz and dinner is being organised by Jean and Malcolm Bunn.

Sunday  31st  May We are holding our annual HELP of Denia and Marina Alta Charity Golf Competition at Oliva Nova Golf Course.   Steve Patton, Pat Lee Patton. John Walker and Bernadine Turpin are the main organisers.  The day includes a Texas Scramble, lunch, a superb raffle with incredible prizes such as ferry tickets to Ibiza or Palma de Mallorca, golf for four, full face and body massage and much much more. Entrance fee for the golf is 55€ for the day including lunch.  We are looking for golfers to play and ‘partners’ are welcome to join us for lunch in the very attractive setting afterwards.  Lunch costs 15€

Sunday 28th June a ‘Glynebourne in Gata’ is being organised for the benefit of HELP.  This gives you the opportunity to listen to classical music, dress up and bring along your picnic.  The Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir is also appearing.  HELP have been allotted 50 tickets so it is a matter of first come, first served.

On 3rd October another quiz will be organised in El Cid by Jean and Malcolm Bunn at El Cid – full details to follow.

Friday 23rd October, an auction is being held at El Cid  in Benidoleig.  We really need your help with this one as we have to supply 300 items to be auctioned.  (Clothes and large furniture  not acceptable but almost everything else is).  If you have anything you’d like to donate then contact me.  A substantial lunch is also available in the  premises.

Saturday 14th November is our HELP Charity Gift Fair at Los Arcos.  This has been a successful venue for the last two years and those of you who haven’t visited us on the day are really missing something.  We need donations of gifts, cakes and ‘bottles’ . Any volunteers to man the HELP stalls or indeed to have their own stall should contact me. Please contact Liz Yardley for all other details - 690 358 244
