WHAT IS HELP?

JALON VALLEY HELP is a charitable organisation run by volunteers

OUR AIMS ARE

  1. To provide neighbourly assistance to anyone in an emergency.
  2. To assist people who are ill, disabled or housebound until long-term help can be arranged.
  3. To raise funds by means of events and by selling secondhand goods which have been donated voluntarily, in order
to buy equipment for the use of charitable or other organisations active in this area, which will benefit all those
    resident or visiting here.

WE CANNOT

  1. Provide long-term help (but will help you find it).
  2. Give advice on legal, financial or property matters.

We work in conjunction with other charities, organisations and HELPs in the Marina Alta to give assistance wherever
needed.

ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO REGARD ANY INFORMATION GIVEN AS CONFIDENTIAL

MEMBERSHIP

This is free and anyone who would like to help us achieve our aims may become a member.

Volunteers are needed for the shops in Jalon and Alcalali to help with sorting and selling the items we receive.

Others are needed from time to time to assist people in their own homes, or with going to the doctor or hospital, for which a good command of Spanish is important - many doctors speak English but we should never presume that they do.

Fundraisers willing to organise or help at our annual events are essential. We hold our very popular May Fayre plus a Christmas Bazaar and Fashion Show.

We promote ouselves in the local English and Spanish newspapers magazines and local websites.

FINANCES

The Treasurer shall record all incomes received and expenditure incurred by the organisation. The Treasurer shall present a Statement of Accounts at each Annual General Meeting for the previous financial year.

MEETINGS

The Committee arrange an Annual General Meeting during February each year. All members on Jalon Valley Help are invited to attend plus persons other than volunteers. Only members have the rights to vote at the meetings.

Regular committee meetings are held during the year in addition to meetings of shop volunteers being held regularly.
